Fun under the Sun at TradeWinds Island Resort on St Pete

We were provided with accommodations for the purpose of review, but all words and opinions are 100% my own

Whether you live in FL or are looking to vacation there TradeWinds Island Resort is the perfect family friendly choice for a fun & peaceful stay. TradeWinds is casual, yet crisp, active yet relaxing, busy yet exhilarating, complete in its offerings yet individual in its attention. TradeWinds is located 30 minutes from Tampa international Airport and sits along a strand of sugary white beach directly on the Gulf of Mexico.

The minute we arrived we were greeted by friendly, ready to help staff who made us feel welcomed. Check-in was smooth and quick, Ron at front desk was very helpful and ready to answer all our questions.

We stayed in a beautiful newly renovated 2 bedroom suite with a tropical view that fit our family of 6 and more. The rooms are crispy clean, with 2 great size bathrooms, good plumbing and strong water pressure. All guest rooms and suites feature refrigerators, microwaves, dish ware, toasters, coffee maker with daily complimentary coffee, stocked mini-bar, hair dryers, lighted makeup mirrors, irons and ironing boards, high-speed wireless Internet access, in-room safe, pay-per-view movies and cable TV with premium channels.

TradeWinds Island Resort Offers 13 Restaurant and Lounges

We woke up nice and early to take advantage of the facility. We had breakfast buffet at Bermuda Steak & Seafood which had a great variety of delicious food. My favorite was the bread pudding and the variety of fresh fruits. Service was very friendly and made sure we were taken care of at all time.

There's also a pizza hut for the active guest on the go, and everyone in the family can enjoy their favorite topping on their own personal pan pizza. We also took a brief break from the sun at the Ice Cream Shoppe located next to Pizza Hut! The frozen drinks by one of the many bars and grills located right off the beach were just what I needed before hitting the beach!

On to the fun fun stuff!!!

My 5 & 8yr old had a blast at the KONK Club, a supervised program in the mornings and evenings, offers a range of exciting activities for kids including Eco-camp, a hunt for RedBeard’s treasure, an art studio and creative crafts. My teens enjoyed the pattleboats, but it was a bit of a challenge. It did teach them teamwork, I on the other hand was so annoyed because I had the bright idea of riding the boat by myself had quite the workout. The TradeWinds Island Resorts have been named an autism-friendly business by the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (C.A.R.D.) Special sensory activities are offered in KONK including hands in the sand, finger puppets, an array of percussion instruments, bean bags and board games.

There's seven swimming pools to chose from, 2 adults-only, one children's pool and 3 whirlpools. Other activities at the resort are miniature golf, bungee trampoline, gyro sphere, Caribbean hair braiding, airbrush tattoos and poolside jewelry vendors!

The beach is absolutely breath taking! White sand and warm blue water is one of the many things i enjoyed.

I can't tell you how much my children enjoyed Splash Island Water Park - a 20,000-square-foot water park and playground floating in the Gulf of Mexico just 60 feet off the resort’s sandy shoreline. A perfect accompaniment to the popular three-story High Tide Slide on the beach, the water park offers more than 11 fun-filled features – from jumping and climbing, to relaxing and sunning. The park has certified lifeguards on duty, and all guests are required to wear life jackets. A MUST do!!!

My husband and i rented a jet-ski for 30mins and boy did we enjoy the adventure, even if i almost fell off twice due to hide tides.

I also had a chance to get my workout in nice and early at one of the two fitness centers.  Both fitness centers are equipped with a full range of exercise equipment including treadmills, stair steppers and cable crossover machines. Free weights and dumbbells are located at the Island Grand fitness center. Guests may choose to participate in YogaFit or a scenic sunrise run on the beach, both offered twice weekly. Personal trainers are also available by appointment.

Body Works Salon & Spa at the TradeWinds Island Grand offers hair, nail and skin care services and spa services such as warm stone massages, chocolate wasabi facials, aromatherapy and body wraps. More than 40 a la carte services are available as well as the “Just Let Go” full-day package and the “Beach Treat” half-day package. Beach side massages are also offered for those that don’t want to miss a minute of the TradeWinds refreshing outdoor breezes.

Over all we had an amazing time at TradeWinds Island Resort and will definitely be visiting again before summer ends. We especially recommend this resort to large families like ours.
